A few months back we advertised an opportunity to participate in a PhotoVoice activity that looked at storytelling through photography. It was an opportunity for community residents to share their own personal stories and provide insight into life in the North End.
Since then, we ran three sessions with three separate groups of community residents who participated in this activity and contributed their own stories and photographs. We have now wrapped up these activities and are ready to share the stories and photos collected in the form of an art exhibit.
The exhibit is entitled ‘Through My Own Eyes: A Visual Narrative of Life in the North End’ and it truly captures each artist’s individual interactions with their neighbourhood and the things that they value and love about their community and surroundings. It provides a unique viewpoint into each person’s life that becomes even stronger when these narratives are all overlapped onto one central map of the neighbourhood.
The Winnipeg Boldness Project would like to invite the community to join us for this event, to view the art installation, interact with the exhibit, and celebrate the hard work of the artists that contributed to this piece.
